To many nations, Sky Bear is the Ursa Major (Big Dipper) constellation, and in this companion to "Thirteen Moons on Turtle's Back" (1992), Bruchac has collected thirteen songs, stories and poems about what Sky Bear sees on the land he inspects each night: fireflies (Anishinabe), a family of mice (Winnebago), pinion trees (Chumash), an old wolf (Lakota), and others. Combined, these voices celebrate the night and reassure those that are fearful of it.

All Juvenile.
