The main purpose of this environmental scan is to build a fuller understanding of the extent of co-operation, co-ordination and/or integration across departments and programs that are part of the federal government's Aboriginal ECD Strategy in BC and to make a preliminary assessment of gaps in ECD services for First Nations and other Aboriginal children in BC by: a) Assembling current information on the ECD environment and programs for "First Nations, and other Aboriginal or Inuit children" in BC identified in the Aboriginal ECD Strategy; b) Making a preliminary assessment of gaps in the provision of federal ECD services identified by the Aboriginal ECD Strategy through mapping of programs and analysis of census data.
