Summary, etc. This booklet is the result of a community-university partnership project between Laichwiltach Family life Society's executive director, Audrey Wilson, and Jessica Bali, a professor in the School of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria. The booklet celebrates Laichwiltach's 20'" anniversary as the only agency on northern Vancouver Island, British Columbia, that serves both on-reserve and non-status urban First Nations and Metis people. The booklet recounts how Laichwiltach's founders engaged local First Nations and other service organizations in the region to grow the range and reach of services to children and families, with excerpts from interviews conducted with over 50 program staff, parents, youth, Elders, and service professionals. The DVD highlights keys to creating and sustaining a grassroots, culturally based community service organization that responds to local needs and goals of First Nations and Metis children and families.
