N2  - This article reports how a group of educators, researchers and Aboriginal leaders view the educational project of the internationally renowned municipal early childhood programs of Reggio Emilia in Italy as a source of inspiration for rethinking British Columbia's early education policies. The authors argue that in order to work towards 'quality' early education, understandings and discussions within the province need to embrace critical dialogues concerning language, the image of the child, the image of the teacher, the relationship between learning and assessment, and community participation
